I remember a time when locs and dreads were symbolic of consciousness, and it wasn't always the case, but MOST of the time the Brothas and Sistas that were sportin the naturals had a little somethin extra going on upstairs.

The creative, the conscious, the aware... the hair said alot about who they are.

Fast forward to the new millennium and a person's hair doesn't seem to mean anything anymore!  (i.e. Lil John & Lil Wayne...)

Dreads became the style, locs and twists became the look and in my opinion it took away from its previous representation of a person embracing their heritage and expressing themselves naturally.
